Want to know what diving is before you decide to get your diving certification by taking the PADI Open Water course? During a Discover Scuba Diving experience, you can try out diving first in a pool or in a sheltered water environment. A well-trained PADI professional will provide dive equipment, explain basic diving skills and answer all your questions.

Open Water
(The PADI Open Water certification is the first diving certification, minimum age 15 years).
Includes:
- 4 course days (8 dives)
- 2 days: pool / sheltered water diving (house reef)
- 2 days: either on the house reef from the beach or outdoor water diving by boat on the reefs of Safaga
- theory (book or e-learning*), practice and license
- all diving materials, course book, certification and Red Sea tax (excluding dive computer)

Open Water
- With this course, you can start with no prerequisites.
- Basic (diving) equipment is used in the training.
- The main objective of this course is to gain knowledge and skills necessary to be safe and responsible in an underwater environment.
- The Open Water course is designed for the student who has no previous experience with the underwater world.
- The training is specially adapted to the basic knowledge level and physical capabilities of the student.
- During the practical skills, you will go in the water with your instructor to learn how to handle diving equipment, how to avoid problems, experience the freedom of weightlessness and enjoy the breathtaking underwater world.
Junior Open Water

Junior Open Water
(Minimum age: 10 years old + medical certificate to dive)
Includes:
- 4 course days (8 dives)

Junior Open Water
General:
- Divers under the age of 15 can obtain a Junior certification
- For junior divers, all course requirements apply except dive depths
- The Junior certification indicates the age restriction. Upon reaching
the age of 15 , the license is automatically transferred to a license without age restriction - After certification, 10 to 11-year-olds may dive with a PADI Professional, certified parent or guardian to a maximum of 12 meters
- 12 to 14-year-olds must dive with an adult, licensed diver.
- Maximum 18 meters for junior Open water divers and 21 meters for follow-up courses.
- After obtaining the Junior Open water certification, it is possible to take various “specialty” courses. If interested, ask for information from the diving instructor.

Advanced Open Water
General:
The Advanced Open Water course is entirely focused on improving your skills. You will practice navigating and out-trimming, make a deep dive and do three Specialty dives of your choice (as if you get to choose from a menu). For each Specialty dive you have completed, you can get an exemption for one dive if you complete the entire PADI– Specialty course will take.
Here are some of the many options:

Underwater Navigation Speciality
PADI Underwater Navigator
If you don’t know how to use a compass or natural landmarks, you can quickly become disoriented underwater.
Learn how to easily find your way back to the boat or shore without having to return to the surface.
You therefore avoid long, tiring swimming trips.
With your instructor
Practice using a compass on the surface and then apply your skills underwater during three dives. Learn how to estimate distances, follow natural directions and practice finding your way back to the boat or shore.
- Prerequisites: PADI (Junior) Open Water (or eligible entry-level certification).
- Total time required: 2-3 days
- Minimum age: 10 years or older

If you are a PADI (Junior) Open Water Diver who is at least 10 years old, you can enroll in the PADI Underwater Navigator Specialty course.
e-Learning:
Get a code from your instructor that allows you to log into the PADI site. You then do the theory online at your own pace. Once you complete your theoretical exam then, in consultation with your instructor, you can schedule the practical dives.
